The Green Movement Needs Homer Simpson

I must draw your attention to this article.

Last Day

Today is my last day at this job.

I will be in the pub lunchtime buying drinks so I probably won't be capable of blogging this afternoon.

The buggers have made me work my notice.

Isn't life fun.

Cover Up

I'm not normally one for conspiracy theories. Really, I'm not.

However, if this isn't the smelliest thing you have read today, I'd like to know the smelliest.

Also, why does it take five years to not find out the truth about the most serious event in living memory?

Margaret Beckett must Resign

Margaret Beckett is a person I have high regard for.

Let's hope she does the right thing for us.

Arc of Extremism

this is scary, depressing stuff.

Tony Blair warns of an arc of extremism in the Middle East.

Of course, invading Iraq under false pretences without UN resolution, that wouldn't be extremist would it?

Does he not see how foolish he must look to those in the region?

Why should anyone listen to this bloke anyway. He's a meance.

Should have been called Dennis Blair. A very scary joke.

Environmental Disaster

Apart from a humanitarian disaster, the situation in Lebanon is an environmental disaster too.

What is not explained in the article is why a power station was bombed in the first place. How can this be construed as a Hezbollah target?

New Job New Car

One of the perks of the new job is a brand spanking new car. And a flash one at that. A beemer or an Audi.

At one time this would have got me all excited. I went to the car showroom today all filled with anticipation. When I saw the car, I was overcome with how dull it was.

It's just a car.

It ought to be more exciting than this.

Maybe it's because the buggers have insisted that I work my notice. Still it's only a week.

Good Feeling

Today I have a letter of resignation in my pocket. I will hand it in later this morning. With any luck they won't ask me to work my notice. In which case I will have a (short) enforced holiday.

It's a great feeling.

Licence to Harrass

Some time ago I decided not to renew the TV licence. I wrote to the licencing people explaining that we weren't going to use the telly anymore for broadcast pictures, but we would continue using it for playing legal, pre-recorded videos.

They were very nice about it generally. I think I wrote about it in my blog.

My friend has just moved into a new house and she simply doesn't have a telly. The TV licence people are on to her with an altogether more aggressive tone with veiled legal threats and a general bolshy attitude.

They obviously consider there are two types of people: those that have a TV licence and law breakers. She will take no action and await "the next action in this investigation".

In truth, I don't think there is anything they can do these days, even if she had a telly (she doesn't). I've heard that detector vans don't work on these new flat screen TVs.

The Trial of Saddam Hussein

I heard today that the jury has retired to consider its verdict.

A verdict is expected some time in October.

I also heard that, if guilty, he prefers to be shot rather than hung.

Luckily, it's not the sort of thing I've given much consideration.

I wonder if it will be televised?
